If you love your daily cup of joe, then you'll love this Coffee and Cream Afghan. It might be hard to get out of bed when you're covered in this crocheted afghan, but it's definitely worth making! Plus, it adds to any type of home decor.

Intermediate

Crochet HookI/9 or 5.5 mm hook

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Afghan measures 49" x 70".

Materials:

  • RED HEART® “Super Saver™”: 6 Balls 365 Coffee A, 4 Balls each 313 Aran B and 360 Cafe C.
  • Crochet Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9].
  • Yarn needle.

GAUGE: 12 sts = 4" in Pattern stitch. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge given.

Note: Afghan is worked lengthwise right side facing every row. Leave 6" tail when beginning and ending every row to add to Fringe.

AFGHAN
With A, ch 204.
Foundation Row (Right Side): Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across – 203 sts.
Fasten off.
Row 1 (Right Side): Do not turn work, leaving 6" tail, join B with a slip st in first sc in last row, ch 6, slip st in 3rd ch from hook, skip next sc, *dc in next sc, ch 3, slip st in 3rd ch from hook – picot made, skip next st; repeat from * across to last st, dc in last sc.
Fasten off B.
Row 2: Do not turn work, leaving 6" tail, join A with a slip st in 3rd ch, ch 1, sc in same space, *working behind picot, dc in next skipped sc, sc in next dc of last row; repeat from * across.
Fasten off A.
Row 3: With C, repeat Row 1.
Fasten off C.
Row 4: Repeat Row 2.
Repeat Rows 1-4 until Afghan measures 48" from beginning, end with A Row.
Fasten off.
Last Row: Join A with a slip st to first sc, ch 1, sc in each sc across.
Fasten off.

FINISHING
Cut 12" lengths of different colors of yarn to add to long tails. Matching colors with row tails, fold lengths in half. Each Fringe should have 6 strands. Pull folded end of lengths through each row end. Pull ends of lengths and long tails through folded end.
Weave in ends.
