Fan Shell, Ripple (9 dcs) – 4 ¾”
Special Stitch: Fan Shell – (dc, ch 1) 4 times, dc) in space or stitch as indicated in instructions.
Note: Pattern is worked in multiples of 14 plus 4.
Row 1 (RS): With white ch 144, dc in 4th ch from hook, *dc in each of next 3 chs, skip 3 chs, Fan Shell in next ch, skip 3 chs, dc in each of next 3 dcs**, 3 dc in next ch, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, 2 dc in last ch, turn.
Row 2: Ch 3, dc in first dc, *dc in each of next 3 dcs, (sc, ch 3) in each of next 3 ch 1 spaces, sc in next ch 1 space, skip 2 dcs, dc in each of next 3 dcs,** 3 dc in next dc, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, 2 dc in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn.
Row 3: Ch 3, dc in first dc, *dc in each of next 3 dcs, skip next ch 3 loop, Fan Shell in next ch 3 loop, skip next (ch 3 loop, sc and dc) dc in each of next 3 dcs**, 3 dc in next dc, repeat from * across ending last repeat at **, 2 dcs in 3rd ch of turning ch, turn.
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 for a total of 70 rows as follows:

EDGING
With white work along right side edge start at bottom side edge (sc, ch 3, sc) in each dc across and fasten off.

I did this pattern in red, white, and blue for my daughter's dorm room! I also added a double-crochet border all the way around it. It turned out beautiful and my daughter loves it!

I like this pattern for spring or early summer because it reminds me of the beach at those times of the year. I have not made this particular pattern, but I have made similar wave patterns and really love them.

I like the pattern but think the colors should be different. More greens, blues with an ivory in the mix. This is very patriotic looking, doesn't remind me of ocean breezes at all.
