Big Granny Throw

Cuddle up in this Big Granny Throw and you'll feel just as cozy as you did in your grandma's embrace as a child. This easy afghan crochet pattern is quick to crochet and looks great on the back of a sofa.
Crochet HookN/15 or 10 mm hook
Yarn Weight(5) Bulky/Chunky (12-15 stitches for 4 inches)

Throw is 45” x 45”.
Materials:
RED HEART® “Light & Lofty®”:
- 5 Balls 9970 Green Cables A
- 2 Balls 9334 Café Au Lait B
Crochet Hook: 10mm [N-15].
Yarn needle.
GAUGE:
5 dc = 4”; 4 rows = 4” in pattern st.
CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.
THROW
With A, ch 5, slip st in first ch to form a ring.
Round 1: Ch 3, 2 dc in ring, ch 1 [3 dc in ring, ch 1] 3 times, join with a slip st to top of beginning ch-3.
Round 2: Slip st to ch-1 space, ch 3, (2 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in ch-1 space, ch 1, [(3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-1 space, ch 1] around, slip st in top of beginning ch-3.
Round 3: Slip st to ch-1 space, ch 4 (counts as dc and ch-1 space), 3 dc in ch-1 space, *ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-1 space; repeat from * twice more, ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, 2 dc first ch-1 space, slip st in 3rd ch of beginning ch.
Round 4: Change to B. Slip st to ch-1 space, (sc, ch 1, 3 sc) in first corner space, *ch 1, 2 sc in next ch-1 space, ch 3, 2 sc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, (3 sc, ch 1, 3 sc) in corner space; repeat from * twice more, ch 1, 2 sc in next ch-1 space, ch 3, 2 sc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, 2 sc in first corner space, slip st in first sc.
Round 5: Change to A. Slip st to corner space, ch 4, 3 dc in same space, *ch 1, 2 sc in next ch-1 space, 5 dc in ch-3 space, 2 sc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 1, 3 dc) in corner space; repeat from * twice more, ch 1, 2 sc in next ch-1 space, 5 dc in ch-3 space, 2 sc in next ch-1 space, ch 1, 2 dc in first corner space, slip st in 3rd ch of beginning ch.
Round 6: Change to B. Last Round: Change to A.
