This chevon stitch pattern instruction states larger hook size H is what it means, although your crocheting tention may be tight or loose. Make a swatch to measure gauge. If your gauge is too loose use smaller chrochet hook, if too tight use a larger hook.

This is a beautiful Country Fair Chevron Crochet Pattern. I love the colors and the pattern is well written. I do have a question though. The pattern states using the larger hook, but only states the "H" hook. So I'm not sure what is meant by larger hook? Could someone please clear this up for me? I so want to crochet this beautiful afghan. Thank you for this free pattern.

When making a chain for the foundation row, it is often stated to use a larger hook size than you will use for the rest of the pattern. In this case since H is the hook size for the pattern, an I hook size would be the next size up and would be used for the 218 foundation row.
