"The Lamb Stitch Stripes Section uses alternating rows of the lamb stitch with rows of double crochet to create a plush, shag texture. The lamb stitch used in this pattern is a variation of the stitch sometimes called the “Astrakhan stitch” in older stitch guides. Skills Used: Basic crochet stitches: chain, double crochet, single crochet, slip stitch Crocheting flat in rows, crocheting in the round Crocheting in back loops only (includes link to video tutorial) Lamb stitch (includes video tutorial) "

Intermediate

Crochet HookI/9 or 5.5 mm hook

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Crochet Gauge20 dc = 6″ (15 cm) across (exact gauge is not critical for this project)

Finished Size7″ x 9″ (18 cm x 23 cm)

Materials List

  • Brava Worsted yarn (100% acrylic, 3 oz/100 g, 218 yd/200 m)
  • US Size I-9/5.5 mm crochet hook
  • Locking stitch marker set (optional, but helpful for marking the front and holding pieces together for seaming)
  • Bent-tip yarn needle
