Hot dog! This Hot Diggity Dog! Snuggle Sack is the perfect cozy crochet sleeping bag for your child. Worked up in super bulky and super snuggly blanket yarn and made to look just like a hot dog on a bun, this is an easy snuggle sack pattern that your kids will love. Work this up as a fun birthday present or as a super unique holiday gift. Meant for kids aged 4-8, this hot dog snuggle sack can be easily customized with the toppings of your choice, so go nuts with the mustard and relish - just be sure to hold the ketchup if you're in Chicago. 

Note: Ch 2 at beg of rnd does not count as hdc.

Pattern

Weiner (Make 2 alike)

  1. With A, ch 80. 

  2. 1st rnd: 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to last ch. 5 hdc in last ch. Working into rem loops of foundation ch, 1 hdc in each ch to last ch. 4 hdc in last ch. Join with sl st to first hdc. 162 hdc.

  3. 2nd rnd: Ch 2. 2 hdc in first hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 76 hdc. 2 hdc in each of next 5 hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 76 hdc. 2 hdc in each of next 4 hdc. Join with sl st to first hdc. 172 hdc.

  1. 1st row: Ch 1. 1 sc in first hdc. 1 sc in each of next 9 hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 10 hdc. 1 dc in each of next 43 hdc. 1 hdc in each of next 10 hdc. 1 sc in each of next 10 hdc. Sl st in next hdc. Turn. Leave rem sts unworked.

  2. 2nd row: 1 sc in each of next 10 sc. 1 hdc in each of next 10 hdc. 1 dc in each of next 43 dc. 1 hdc in each of next 10 hdc. 1 sc in each of next 10 sc. Sl st in next sc. Fasten off. 

Ketchup and/or Mustard

  1. Mustard: With C, ch 140. Fasten off.

  2. Ketchup: With D, ch 140. Fasten off.

Finishing

  1. Sew squirt of Mustard to one side of Hot Dog and squirt of Ketchup on the other.

  2. Sew Buns to either side of Wieners, overlapping onto Wiener approx 1½" [4 cm] on either side, and lining up bottoms of Buns and Wieners. 

  3. Join sides: With RS facing, join B with sl st to side Bun at top. Ch 1. Working through both thicknesses, work sc evenly along side and bottom of Bun. Fasten off. Rep on opposite side. With A, join ends of Wieners tog at bottom between Buns in same manner.

I love this pattern! My oldest son (who is in his 30s) would love this. I think I will make it for him, his girlfriend will roll her eyes at him but he will love it! The pattern is rooted in memories of hot dog cookout where the kids cooked their own dogs over the camp fire, it would bring back lots of good memories.

This is so funny. I might make a small one for my friend's cat!

Wow. A hot dog sleeping bag. I'm sure the boys will want to bring this to their camping. A super chunky yarn should be used in this project to protect the person form the cold when the camping happens in the autumn or winter season. I'm sure the little ones will also like this, maybe even the adults will want to use this kind of sleeping bag. Thanks for this free pattern.
