I love this sort of afghan because they are never boring. You can switch up the colours to keep it fun, and the changes in stitches and pattern keep it from becoming tedious. The hearts really make this afghan special. It is quite a bit of work to make, but you have a nice afghan in the end.

I like the idea of putting the granny squares in a spiral like this-- it allows you to look at each granny square as you follow the spiral. Otherwise you might miss one!
