Instructions

Special Stitches 
beg popcorn (beginning popcorn) = Ch 3 (counts as first dc), 2 dc in same space, drop loop from hook, insert hook from front to back in top of beginning ch-3, place dropped loop back on hook and draw through. 
popcorn = Work 3 dc in indicated stitch, drop loop from hook, insert hook from front to back in first dc of 3-dc group, place dropped loop back on hook and draw through. 
ch-3 join (chain-3 join) = Ch 1, drop loop from hook, insert hook in center ch of corresponding ch-3 on adjacent motif, pick up dropped loop and pull through, ch 1. 
sc2tog = [Insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up a loop] twice, yarn over and draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Color Sequences 
Make 41 motifs and 8 half motifs in the following color sequences: 
Sequence 1 (make 8 motifs and 2 half motifs): A, B, C, D, and F 
Sequence 2 (make 9 motifs): E, A, B, C, and F 
Sequence 3 (make 7 motifs and 2 half motifs): D, E, A, B, and F 
Sequence 4 (make 9 motifs and 2 half motifs): C, D, E, A, and F 
Sequence 5 (make 8 motifs and 2 half motifs): B, C, D, E, and F

Notes 
1. Throw is made of motifs and half motifs joined together with a join-asyou-go technique. 
2. Motifs are worked in joined rounds. Half motifs are worked back and forth in rows. 
3. Refer to Assembly Diagram for placement of pieces and appropriate Round 5 (joining round) to join each motif. Numbers in Diagram refer to color sequence. Colors in Diagram indicate the number of joins on sides of motifs.

With first color, ch 4; join with slip st to a form ring. 

  1. Round 1 (right side): Ch 4 (counts as first dc, ch 1 here and throughout), (dc, [ch 1, dc] 10 times) in ring, ch 1; join with slip st in 3rd ch of beginning ch—12 dc and 12 ch-1 spaces. Fasten off

  2. Round 2: With right side facing, join 2nd color with slip st in any ch-1 space, beg popcorn in same space, [ch 3, popcorn in next ch-1 space] around, ch 3; join with slip st in top of beg popcorn—12 popcorns and 12 ch-3 spaces. Fasten off

  3. Round 3: With right side facing, join 3rd color with slip st in any ch-3 space, ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), 2 dc in same space, (ch 1, 3 dc) in each ch-3 space around, ch 1; join with slip st in top of beginning ch—36 dc and 12 ch-1 spaces. Fasten off.

  4. Round 4: With right side facing, join 4th color with slip st in any ch-1 space, ch 3, 2 dc in same space, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-1 space, [(ch 1, 3 dc) in next ch-1 space, ch 1, (3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-1 space] around, ch 1; join with slip st in top of beginning ch—54 dc, 12 ch-1 spaces, and 6 ch-3 spaces.
