"The beauty of Catherine Wheel afghan is that you can make it any size you want - even the pattern states "Once youve worked the length desired then finish with 1 row of black." Just know that the base chain for any Catherine Wheel is to chain any multiple of 10 sts, 7 sts. (I dont know how this pattern starts with 50 chain.) I have made several Catherine Wheel items over the years (2 afghans, a few pillows 3 scarfs). This pattern is only the basic instructions for a Catherine Wheel AND it is in Australian terminology meaning you may need to convert to North American terminology. If you are looking for a full afghan pattern is completed dimensions and yarn amounts, this may not be the one for you to use."

"I am assuming you are having a problem understanding where the pattern states working in ends of rows of first side, sc in first row, 2 sc in next row, sc in next row. When you crochet up the SIDES of the afghan, you are putting 2sc in one row and then 1 sc in the the next row. This is a common technique when edging crochet items since these edges are never even like the original chain row or the cast-off row. I hope this helps."

"Starting on this pattern now with wool ease (weight 4). Confused about your "gauge" directions "Basic Square = 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" sts = 4" rows = 4" in sc" how many SC in 4"?? How many rows to get 4" Surely I do not make an entire Basic Square and then measure to see if it is 6.5" square????? Help plz?"

"This classically simple crochet shell blanket is made in a solid tan color yarn. The crochet stitch pattern paired with the yarn color just give this afghan an heirloom quality look and feel. The pattern is a four row repeat, which provides a bit of variety in your crochet project. For me, if you are going to be working on this for a little bit, it is nice to have some different crochet stitches every few rows. This pattern uses the double crochet and single crochet stitches. Therefore, it is easy to master."
