  • Caron® Simply Soft® (Solids: 6 oz/170 g; 315 yds/288 m; Heathers: 5 oz/141.7 g; 250 yds/228 m) Contrast A: Persimmon (9754) - 2 balls; Contrast B: Dark Country Blue (9711) - 2 balls; Contrast C: Soft Green (9739) - 1 ball; Contrast D: Grey Heather (9509) - 1 ball; Contrast E: Pagoda (0014) - 1 ball; Contrast F: Light Country Peach (9737) - 1 ball; Contrast G: Charcoal Heather (9508) - 1 ball
  • Crochet Hook: Size U.S. H/8 (5 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

Size: Approx 46” x 57¼” [114.5 x 145.5cm].

Gauge: 13 sc and 14 rows = 4” [10 cm]. Motif = Approx 3¾” [9.5 cm] square.

Abbreviations: Approx = Approximately, Ch = Chain(s), Dc = Double crochet, Rnd(s) = Round(s), RS = Right side, Sc = Single crochet, Sl st = Slip stitch, Sp(s) = Space(s), St(s) = Stitch(es), Tog = Together.

INSTRUCTIONS:

Motif: With A, make 32. With B, make 29. With C, D and E, make 25 each. With F, make 24. With G, make 20.
Ch 4. Join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
1st Round: Ch 5 (counts as dc and ch 2). (3 dc. Ch 2) 3 times in ring. 2 dc in ring. Join with sl st to 3rd ch of ch 5.
2nd Round: Sl st in next ch-2 sp. Ch 3 (counts as dc). (2 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in same ch-2 sp. [Ch 1. Skip next 3 dc. (3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp] 3 times. Ch 1. Skip next 3 dc. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
3rd Round: Sl st in each of next 2 dc and ch-2 sp. Ch 3 (counts as dc). (2 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in same ch-2 sp. [Ch 1. Skip next 3 dc. 3 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1. Skip next 3 dc. (3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp] 3 times. Ch 1. Skip next 3 dc. 3 dc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1. Skip next 3 dc. Join with sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.

FINISHING: Sew Motifs tog as shown in diagram.

EDGING:

1st Round: (RS). Join B with sl st in any corner of Afghan. Ch 1. 3 sc in same sp as last sl st. Work sc evenly around outer edge, working 3 sc in each corner. Join with sl st to first sc.
2nd Round: Ch 1. Working from left to right, instead of from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc around. Join with sl st to first st. Fasten off.
