With only two skeins of yarn you can work up this stylish Field of Flowers Baby Crochet Blanket. The floral granny square baby blanket is perfect for the spring season or even a baby shower gift. The cluster crochet stitch is used to work up the second motif in this afghan blanket. This is such a sweet, simple and easy crochet baby blanket to work up you'll want to make more than one.

Materials:

 

  • Bernat® Baby Sport™ (12.3 oz/350 g; 1256 yds/1148 m)
  • Main Color (MC) Lilac (21319) 1 ball
  • Contrast A Baby Grey (21048) 1 ball
  • Size U.S. G/6 (4 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.
  • DIAGRAM


Gauge:
15 dc and 8 rows = 4" [10 cm].
1 Motif = Approx 4" [10 cm] square


Instructions:
Note: Ch 3 at beg of row counts as dc.

Motif I (make 45).
With MC, ch 6. Join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
1st rnd: Ch 3. 3 dc in ring.
Turn.
Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 4 dc – beg petal made.
Turn.
Ch 3.
*Working behind petal, 4 dc in ring.
Turn.
Ch 3. 1 dc in each of next 4 dc – petal made.
Turn.
Ch 3. Rep from * 6 times more. Join with sl st to ring. Fasten off.
2nd rnd: Working behind petals, join A with sl st to any ch-3 sp. Ch 3. (2 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in same sp as sl st. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp . *(3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) all in next ch-3 sp. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp.
Rep from * twice more. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
3rd rnd: Sl st in each of next 2 dc and ch-2 sp. Ch 3. (2 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in same sp as sl st. *1 dc in each of next 9 dc. (3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) all in next ch-3 sp. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp. Rep from * twice more. 1 dc in each of next 9 dc.
Join with sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.
Motif II (make 45).
With MC, ch 6. Join with sl st to first ch to form a ring.
1st rnd: With MC, beg cluster in ring. Ch 3. (Cluster. Ch 3) 7 times in ring. Join with sl st to top of beg cluster. Fasten off.
2nd rnd: Join A with sl st to any ch-3 sp. Ch 3. (2 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in same sp as sl st. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp. *(3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) all in next ch-3 sp. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp. Rep from * twice more. Join with sl st to top of ch 3.
3rd rnd: Sl st in each of next 2 dc and ch-2 sp. Ch 3. (2 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) in same sp as sl st. *1 dc in each of next 9 dc. (3 dc. Ch 2. 3 dc) all in next ch-3 sp. 3 dc in next ch-3 sp. Rep from * twice more. 1 dc in each of next 9 dc.
Join with sl st to top of ch 3. Fasten off.
Following diagram, sew Motifs tog.
Edging: With RS facing, join A with sl st to top right corner of Blanket.
1st rnd: Ch 2 (does not count as st). 3 hdc in same sp as sl st. Work in hdc evenly around Blanket, having 5 hdc in corners. 2 hdc in same sp as first sl st. Join with st st to first hdc. Fasten off.
