Contemporary Zig Zag Throw

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Materials:

  • Caron® Simply Soft® and Caron® Simply Soft® Brites™ (170 g/6 oz; 288 m/315 yds): 6 balls of White (9701) as Main Color (MC), 2 balls each of Royal Blue (9767) as A, Blue Mint (9608) as B and Limelight (9607) as C.
  • Size U.S. I/9 (5.5 mm) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge.

Measurements: Approx 46" x 57" [117 x 144.5 cm].

Gauge: 12 sc and 13 rows = 4" [10 cm].

Instructions

Notes:

  • First and last sc of each row is left unworked.
  • When joining new color, work to last 2 loops on hook of last st. Draw new color through 2 loops, then proceed in a new color.


With MC, ch 287. Mark every 50th ch for easier counting.
1st row: (RS). 1 sc in 2nd ch from hook. *(Ch 1. Miss next ch. 1 sc in next ch) 11 times. Ch 2. (1 sc in next ch. Ch 1. Miss next ch) 11 times. 1 sc in next ch.** Miss next 2 ch. 1 sc in next ch. Rep from * 4 times more, then from * to ** once more. Turn. 286 sts.
2nd row: Sl st to first ch-1 sp. Ch 1. 1 sc in same sp as sl st. (Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 sc in next ch-1 sp) 10 times. Ch 1. *(1 sc. Ch 2. 1 sc) in next ch-2 sp. (Ch 1. Miss next sc. 1 sc in next ch-1 sp) 11 times.** Miss next 2 sc. (1 sc in next ch-1 sp. Ch 1. Miss next sc) 11 times. Rep from * 4 times more, then from * to ** once more. Turn.

Rep last row until work from beg measures 3” [9 cm], ending on a WS row.
With A, rep last row for 4" [10 cm], ending on a WS row.
With MC, rep last row for 3" [9 cm], ending on a WS row.
With B, rep last row for 4" [10 cm], ending on a WS row.
With MC, rep last row for 3" [9 cm], ending on a WS row.
With C, rep last row for 4" [10 cm], ending on a WS row.
With MC, rep last row for 15" [40.5 cm], ending on a WS row.
With C, rep last row for 4" [10 cm], ending on a WS row.
With MC, rep last row for 3" [9 cm], ending on a WS row.
With B, rep last row for 4" [10 cm], ending on a WS row.
