Woodcliff Throw

If you love crocheting different crochet motifs, the Woodcliff Throw is the pattern for you. Using special cluster stitches, crochet each motif in pastel colors or with any scrap yarn you may have. Since each motif is a different size, this throw has a patchwork quality that will add a unique touch to your home.

SPECIAL TECHNIQUE
Double-ring method: Holding the yarn a few inches from the end, wrap twice around your fingers. Remove rings from
fingers and grip two rings and tail firmly between middle finger and thumb. Insert hook through center of ring and draw up a
loop. Yarn over and draw through loop on hook. Work stitches of first round in the rings. Pull gently, but firmly, on tail to
tighten ring.

NOTES
1. Combined Motifs are formed by sewing together ten smaller motifs: two Motif #1, two Motif #2, two Motif #3, and four
Motif #4.
2. Throw consists of twelve Combined Motifs arranged into 4 rows of 3 Motifs each.
3. To change color in join; insert hook in first st of round, yarn over with new color and draw through both loops on hook.

MOTIF #1 (make 24 – 12 in colorway #1, and 12 in colorway #2)
Colorway #1: A, E, C, F, D,
Colorway #2: F, C, E, G, B.
With first color, form a ring using the double-ring method.
Round 1: Ch 3 (counts as first dc), work 23 dc in ring; join with sl st in top of beg ch—24 dc.
Round 2: Ch 3, tr2tog, ch 5, [tr3tog, ch 5] 7 times; join with sl st in top of beg ch—8 points. Fasten off first color.
Round 3: Join 2nd color with sc in any ch-5 sp, ch 2, 3 sc in same ch-5 sp, [(3 sc, ch 2, 3 sc) in next ch-5 sp] 7 times, 2 sc in first ch-5 sp; join with sl st in first sc—48 sc and 8 ch-2 sps. Fasten off 2nd color.
Round 4: Join 3rd color with sl st in any ch-2 sp, ch 3 (counts as dc), (2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same ch-2 sp (corner made), ch 2, 5 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2, *(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp (corner made), ch 2, 5 dc in next ch-2 sp, ch 2; rep from * 2 more times; join with sl st in top of beginning ch—4 corners, and one 5-dc group on each side. Fasten off 3rd color.

Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), (dc, ch 2, dc) in next sc, dc in next 20 sc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next sc (corner made), dc in next 2 sc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next sc, dc in next 20 sc, (dc, ch 2, dc) in next sc, dc in next sc, join with sl st in top of beginning ch; change to 3rd color in join—52 dc and 4 corner ch-2 sps. Fasten of 2nd color.
Round 3: Ch 3, *dc in each st to next corner ch-2 sp, (dc, ch 2, dc) in corner ch-2 sp; repeat from * 3 more times, dc in each st around; join with sl st in top of beginning ch—60 dc and 4 corner ch-2 sps. Fasten off.

MOTIF #3 (make 24 – 12 in colorway #1, and 12 in colorway #2)

With first color, form a ring using the double-ring method.
Round 1: Ch 1, work 16 sc in ring; join with sl st in first sc; change to 2nd color in join. Fasten off first color.
Round 2: Ch 4 (counts as dc, ch 1), dc in next sc, [ch 1, dc in next sc] 14 times; join with sl st in 3rd ch of beginning ch; change to 3rd color in join—16 dc, and 16 ch-1 sps.
Round 3: (Sl st, ch 2, 2-dc Cl) in first ch-1 sp, ch 2, [3-dc Cl in next ch-1 sp, ch 2] 15 times; join with sl st in top of first cluster—16 clusters. Fasten off 3rd color.

Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc), dc in next 2 sc, ch 4, [dc in next 3 sc, ch 4] 3 times; join with sl st in top of beginning ch; change to 2nd color in join—12 dc, and 4 ch-4 sps.
Round 3: Sl st in next dc (center dc of first 3-dc group), ch 4 (counts as tr), (2 tr, ch 3, 3 tr) in same dc, dc in next ch-4 sp, [(3 tr, ch 3, 3 tr) in center dc of next 3-dc group, dc in next ch-4 sp] 3 times; join with sl st in top of beginning ch.
Fasten off.

COMBINED MOTIF (make 12 – from smaller motifs)
Arrange smaller motifs as shown in assembly diagram. With WS facing, sew motifs together sewing through one loop only of each stitch. Use a yarn color that matches the last round of one of the motifs being joined.

FINISHING
Arrange Combined Motifs in 4 rows of 3 Combined Motifs each, orient all of the Combined Motifs in the same direction (see assembly diagram). With WS facing, sew motifs together sewing through one loop only of each stitch. For sewing each edge, use a yarn color that matches the last round of one of the motifs being joined.

Border
Round 1: Join G with sc in any corner of throw, 2 sc in same corner, [sc in each dc and ch-sp to next corner, work 5 dc in corner] 3 times, sc in each dc and ch-2 sp to first corner, 2 sc in first corner; join with sl st in first sc.
Round 2: Ch 1, (sc, ch 5, sc, ch 5, sc, ch 5, sc) in same sc as join, ch 5, sk next 2 sc, [sc in next sc, ch 5, sk next 2 sc] across to next corner sc, *(sc, ch 5, sc, ch 5, sc, ch 5, sc) in center sc of 5-sc corner, ch 5, sk next 2 sc, [sc in next sc, ch 5, sk next sc] across to next corner sc; repeat from * 2 more times; join with sl st in first sc.
Round 3: Ch 1, work 3 sc in each ch-4 sp around; join with sl st in first sc. Fasten off G.

Go go go, Shawn69. Go ahead and start this project. It looks complicated but it's worth the try. I like the colors that were used here. They are relaxing. There are special stitches included in the pattern which is just right on the same page.Lucky crocheters, you don't have to click a link for the pattern.
