The Strawberry Kiwi Crochet Throw is a one of a kind blanket that you won't find anywhere else! Using the shell stitch, crochet this throw using shade of pink and green to get a wonderfully preppy look. This free pattern is airy, sweet, and will look excellent in just about any color.

Easy

Crochet HookH/8 or 5 mm hook

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Throw Measures:  46” x 56”

RED HEART Super Saver: 
3 skeins 0706 Perfect Pink, 2 skeins 0320 Cornmeal, 2 skeins 0624 Tea Leaf

Crochet Hook: 5.0 mm (US H-8) crochet hook or size needed for gauge

Gauge: 8 rows – 4 ½”
2 Shells, ch 3 – 1 ¾”

Special Stitch:  Shell – 3 dcs in space or stitch as indicated in instructions.

Note:  Throw is crocheted in multiples of 6 plus 7.

 

Row 1 (RS): With perfect pink ch 163, 2 dcs in 4th ch from hook, skip 2 chs, sc in next ch, [ch 3, skip 2 chs, Shell in next ch, skip 2 chs, sc in next ch] across, turn.

Row 2: Ch 3, 2 dc in same stitch as beginning ch 3, sc in 3rd dc of next shell, [ch 3, Shell in next sc, sc in 3rd dc of next Shell] across, turn.

Row 3: Repeat Row 2.

Row 4: Repeat Row 2 and fasten off.

Row 5: Join cornmeal with a slip stitch in first stitch, ch 2, 2 dcs in same stitch, continue with Row 2.

Row 6: Repeat Row 2, fasten off and turn.

Row 7: Join tea leaf with a slip stitch in first stitch, ch 2, 2 dcs in same stitch, continue with Row 2.

Row 8: Repeat Row 2, fasten off and turn.

 

Color Scheme:

Continue 8-row pattern for a total of 88 rows as follows:

(4 rows perfect pink, 2 rows cornmeal, 2 rows tea leaf) 11 times

 

Edging

With right side facing and perfect pink work along top edge, (sc, ch 3, 2 dc) in right corner sc, [skip 2 dcs, (sc, ch 3, dc) in next dc, (sc, ch 3, dc) in next sc] across, (sc, ch 3, 2 dcs) in last dc.

Work along side edge (sc, ch 3, dc) in each sc across.

Work along bottom edge, (sc, ch 3, 2 dcs) in first corner sc, [(sc, ch 3, dc) in ch stitch below 3 dcs, (sc, ch 3, dc) in ch stitch below sc] across, (sc, ch 3, 2 dcs) in last stitch.

Work along side edge (sc, ch 3, dc) in each sc across, join to beginning sc and fasten off.

You can add patterns to Ravelry even if they're not in the database. When you're adding your project, it will give you that option and you can link it in your comments. You can also email the mods and ask that they add it.

I wish Roseanna or someone at AFC would add these 'ghans to the Ravelry database. I get a lot of my patterns from here and AFK and I can't add the patterns or projects to my account on Rav cuz they aren't in the database.
