  • Simply Soft (170 g/6. oz;288 m/315 yds): Contrast A White (9701) 2; Contrast B Sunshine (9755) 1; Contrast C Light Country Peach (9737) 1; Contrast D Soft Pink (9719) 1; Contrast E Orchid (9717) 1; Contrast F Soft Blue (9712) 1; Contrast G Soft Green (9739) 1
  • Size 5.5 mm (U.S. I-9) or size needed to obtain gauge
  • Yarn needle

Instructions for BLANKET:

Blanket is worked with RS facing throughout.

Two double crochet rounds are worked with a color, then one single crochet round is worked with white. This color pattern is repeated throughout.

With B, ch 4; join with sl st in first ch to form a ring.

  1. Round 1 (RS): Ch 2 (counts as first dc here and throughout), 2 dc in ring, [ch 2, 3 dc in ring] 3 times; join with hdc in top of beginning ch-2 (joining hdc serves as a ch-2 sp)—12 dc (consisting of four 3-dc groups) and 4 ch-2 sps.

  2. Round 2: Ch 2, 2 dc in first ch-2 sp (formed by joining hdc), [ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next ch-2 sp (corner made)] 3 times, ch 1, 3 dc in first ch-2 sp again, ch 2; join with sl st in top of beginning ch-2—24 dc, and 8 ch-sps. Fasten off.

  3. Round 3: With RS facing, join A with sl st in any corner ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in same corner ch-2 sp, [ch 2, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 2, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next corner ch-2 sp] 3 times, ch 2, sc in next ch-1 sp, ch 2, sc in first ch-2 sp again, ch 3; join with sl st in first sc—12 sc, and 12 ch-sps. Fasten off.

  4. Round 4: With RS facing, join C with sl st in any corner ch-3 sp, ch 2, 2 dc in same corner ch-3 sp, [ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-2 sp] across to next corner ch-3 sp, *ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next corner ch-3 sp, [ch 1, 3 dc in next ch- 2 sp] across to next corner ch-3 sp; repeat from * around, 3 dc in first corner ch-3 sp again; join with ch 1, hdc in top of beginning ch-2 (joining ch 1 and hdc serves as a ch-3 sp)—48 dc, and 16 ch-sps.

  5. Round 5: Ch 2, 2 dc in first ch-2 sp (formed by joining ch 1, hdc), *[ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp] across to next corner ch-2 sp, *ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next corner ch-2 sp, [ch 1, 3 dc in next ch-1 sp] across to next corner; repeat from * around, 3 dc in first corner ch-2 sp again, ch 2; join with sl st in top of beginning ch-2—60 dc, and 20 ch-sps. Fasten off.

  6. Round 6: With RS facing, join A with sl st in any corner ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in same corner ch-2 sp, [ch 2, sc in next ch-1 sp] across to next corner ch-2 sp, *ch 2, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next corner ch-2 sp, [ch 2, sc in next ch-1 sp] across to next corner ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, ch 2, sc in first ch-2 sp again, ch 3; join with sl st in first sc— 24 sc, and 24 ch-sps. Fasten off.

  7. Rounds 7 and 8: With D, repeat Rounds 4 and 5—96 dc, and 32 ch-sps.

  8. Round 9: With A, repeat Round 6—36 sc, and 36 ch-sps.

  9. Rounds 10 and 11: With E, repeat Rounds 4 and 5—132 dc, and 44 ch-sps.

  10. Round 12: With A, repeat Round 6—48 sc, and 48 ch-sps.

  11. Rounds 13 and 14: With F, repeat Rounds 4 and 5—168 dc, and 56 ch-sps.

  12. Round 15: With A, repeat Round 6—60 sc, and 60 ch-sps.

  13. Rounds 16 and 17: With G, repeat Rounds 4 and 5—204 dc, and 68 ch-sps.

  14. Round 18: With A, repeat Round 6—72 sc, and 72 ch-sps.

  15. Rounds 19 and 20: With B, repeat Rounds 4 and 5—240 dc, and 80 ch-sps.

  16. Round 21: With A, repeat Round 6—84 sc, and 84 ch-sps.

  17. Rounds 22–39: Repeat Rounds 4–21.

  18. Rounds 40–47: Repeat Rounds 4–11.

  19. Round 48: With RS facing, join A with sl st in any corner ch-2 sp, ch 1, sc in same corner ch-2 sp, [ch 2, sc in next ch-1 sp] across to next corner ch-2 sp, *ch 2, (sc, ch 3, sc) in next corner ch-2 sp, [ch 2, sc in next ch-1 sp] across to next corner ch-2 sp; repeat from * around, ch 2, sc in first ch-2 sp again; join with ch 1, hdc in first sc. Fasten off.

  20. Round 49: With A, repeat Round 4. Do not fasten off.

  21. Round 50: With A, [ch 3, sl st in center dc of next 3-dc group, ch 3, sl st in next ch-1 sp] across to next corner ch-2 sp, ch 3, *(sl st, ch 3, sl st) in corner next ch-2 sp, [ch 3, sl st in center dc of next 3-dc group, ch 3, sl st in nextch-1 sp] across to next corner ch-2 sp, ch 3; repeat from * around; join with sl st in base of beginning ch-3. Fasten off.

Instructions for FINISHING:

  1. Using yarn needle, weave in all ends.
