Archways Crochet Throw

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Crochet Gauge12 sts = 3" (7.5 cm); 9 rows = 3" (7.5 cm) in pattern. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Finished SizeThrow measures 45" (114 cm) x 55" (140 cm)

Instructions

Note

To customize the size of the throw, the starting chain can be adjusted by using a multiple of 3 + 2 sts

Throw

  1. Ch 161.

  2. Row 1: Sc into second ch from hook, [ch 4, skip 2 ch, sc in next ch] 53 times – 54 sc, 53 ch-4 spaces.

  3. Row 2: Ch 3 (counts as dc here and throughout), turn, 2 sc in ch-4 space, [ch 1, 2 sc in next ch-4 space] 52 times, dc in last sc from previous row – 106 sc, 52 ch-1 spaces, 2 dc.

  4. Row 3: Ch 1, turn, sc between dc and sc of previous row, [ch 4, skip 2 sts, sc in ch-1 space] 52 times, ch 4, sc in top of turning ch – 54 sc, 53 ch-4 spaces.

  5. Repeat Rows 2 & 3 sixty-nine times or until throw measures 51" (129.5 cm) long. Do not fasten off.

Border

  1. Round 1: Ch 1, turn, slip st into ch-4 space, ch 3, 2 dc in same ch-4 space, 3 dc in each of the next 52 ch-4 spaces, ch 2, 3 dc in same corner space, turn to work down side; 3 dc in side of each of the next 70 dc, ch 2, turn to work across bottom; 3 dc in each of the next 53 ch-4 spaces, ch 2, turn to work up side; 3 dc in side of next 70 dc, turn to work across top; 3 dc in first ch-4 space you worked in for the border, ch 2, slip st to first dc to join – 744 dc.

  2. Round 2: Ch 1, * 1 sc in each dc to corner, 3 sc in corner ch-2 space; repeat from * 3 more times, slip st to first sc to join – 756 sc.

  3. Round 3: Slip st in each st around. Fasten off.
