  • Size 5.5 mm (U.S. I/9) crochet hook, or size needed  to obtain gauge

Instructions:

NOTES:
Turning ch 2 does not count as hdc.

To join new color, work to last 2 (3) loops on hook of last st. Draw new color through last 2 (3) loops to complete st and proceed in new color.

  1. With MC, ch 160.

    1st row: (RS). 1 hdc in 3rd ch from hook. 1 hdc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 158 hdc.
    2nd row: Ch 2. Working in back loops only, 1 hdc in each hdc across. Turn.
    3rd to 7th rows: As 2nd row. Join A at end of last row.
    8th row: With A, ch 3 (counts as dc). *Miss next 3 hdc. 1 dtr in next hdc. Working in front of last dtr, 1 dc in each of 3 missed hdc. Rep from * to last hdc. 1 dc in last hdc. Turn.
    9th row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). *Miss next 3 dc. 1 dtr in next dtr. Working behind last dtr, 1 dc in each of 3 missed dc. Rep from * to last dc. 1 dc in top of turning ch 3. Turn.
    10th row: Ch 3 (counts as dc). *Miss next 3 dc. 1 dtr in next dtr. Working in front of last dtr, 1 dc in each of 3 missed dc. Rep from * to last dc. 1 dc in top of turning ch 3. Turn.
    11th row: As 9th row. Join MC at end of row.
    12th row: With MC, ch 2. 1 hdc in each st across. Turn.
    13th row: As 2nd row. Rep 2nd to 13th rows 9 times more, then 2nd to 5th rows once. Do not turn at end of last row.


    EDGING

    Ch 2. Work in hdc down left side of Afghan.
    Fasten off.
    With RS of work facing, join MC with sl st to bottom right corner of Afghan. Ch 2. Work in hdc up right side of Afghan.
    Fasten off.
