Christmas Chevron Crochet Pattern

Crochet HookI/9 or 5.5 mm hook

Yarn Weight(4) Medium Weight/Worsted Weight and Aran (16-20 stitches to 4 inches)

Materials:

  • RED HEART® Super Saver®: 1 skein each of 316 Soft White A, 321 Gold B, 624 Tea Leaf C, and 389 Hunter Green D, and 2 skeins of 376 Burgundy E
  • Hook: 5.5mm [US I-9]
  • Yarn needle

Size: Throw measures 44 x 54” (112 x 137 cm)

Gauge: 1 ripple = 5½” (14 cm) measured from peak to peak; 7 rows = 4” (10 cm) in pattern. CHECK YOUR GAUGE. Use any size hook to obtain the gauge.

Special Stitch: dc2tog= [Yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, yarn over and pull up loop, yarn over, draw through 2 loops] 2 times, yarn over, draw through all 3 loops on hook.

Tip: To keep the lower edge of the Throw from pulling, try working the foundation chain witha hook one size larger than the rest of the Throw.

Work 1 row with A, 1 row withB, 1 row withA, *5 rows withC, 1 row withA, 1 row withB, 1 row withA, 8 rows withE, 1 row withA,1 row withB, 1 row withA, 5 rows withD, 1row withA, 1 row withB, 1 row withA; repeatfrom * 2 more times.

Throw
With A, ch 131 loosely.

Row 1 (right side): Dc in 4th ch from hook (3 skipped ch count as first dc), dc in next 5 ch, [dc2tog] twice, dc in next 5 ch, *2 dc in each of next 2 ch, dc in next 5 ch, [dc2tog] twice, dc in next 5 ch; repeat from * to last ch, 2 dc in last ch, turn—8 ripples. Change to B.

Row 2: With B, ch 3 (counts as first dc here and throughout), dc in first dc, dc in next 5 dc, [dc2tog] twice, dc in next 5 dc, *2 dc in each of next 2 dc, dc in next 5 dc, [dc2tog] twice, dc in next 5 dc; repeat from * to turning ch, 2 dc in top of turning ch, turn. Change to A. Repeat Row 2 and continue to change color as in Stripe Sequence, until all 84 rows are worked. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
