  • Size 5 mm (U.S. H or 8) crochet hook or size needed to obtain gauge

Measurement: Approx 36" [91.5 cm] square.

Gauge: 3 sts and 8½ rows = 4" [10 cm] in pat.

Instructions:
With A, ch 121.

1st row: (RS). 1 dc in 4th ch from hook (counts as 2 dc). 1 dc in each ch to end of ch. Turn. 119 dc.
2nd row: Ch 2 (does not count as hdc). 1 hdc in each dc across, ending with 1 hdc in top of turning ch. Join B. Turn.
3rd row: With B, ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in next hdc. *[Fptr around post of next dc 2 rows below. Miss next hdc (behind Fptr just made). 1 dc in next hdc] 3 times. 1 dc in each of next 4 hdc.Rep from * to last 7 hdc.[Fptr around post of next dc 2 rows below. Miss next hdc (behind Fptr just made). 1 dc in next hdc] 3 times. 1 dc in last hdc. Turn.
4th row: Ch 2 (does not count as hdc). 1 hdc in each st across, ending with 1 hdc in top of turning ch. Join C. Turn.
5th row: With C, ch 3 (counts as dc). 1 dc in each of next 6 hdc. *[Fptr around post of next dc 2 rows below. Miss next hdc (behind Fptr just made). 1 dc in next hdc] 3 times. 1 dc in each of next 4 hdc. Rep from * to last 2 hdc. 1 dc in each of last 2 hdc. Turn.
6th row: As 4th row, ending with join A. Turn.
7th row: With A, as 3rd row.
8th row: As 4th row, ending with join B. Turn.
9th row: With B, as 5th row.
10th row: As 4th row, ending with join C. Turn.
11th row: With C, as 3rd row.
12th row: As 4th row, ending with join A. Turn.
13th row: With A, as 5th row.
14th row: As 4th row, ending with join B. Turn.
15th row: With B, as 3rd row. Rep 4th to 15th rows for pat until Blanket measures approx 36" [91.5 cm], ending on an 8th or 14th row of pat. Fasten off.

Side Edging:
(RS). Join A with sl st in top left corner of Blanket. Ch 1. Work sc evenly down side edge to foundation row. Fasten off. Rep along opposite side edge. Do not fasten off. Cont as follows for outer edging: Outer edging:Ch 1. Working from left to right, instead of
from right to left as usual, work 1 reverse sc in each sc across side edge just worked, 3 sc in corner, then 1 reverse sc in each st across final row of Blanket, 3 sc in corner, then 1 reverse sc in each st down opposite side edge, 3 sc in corner, 1 reverse sc in each rem ch of foundation ch and 3 sc in first corner. Join with sl st to first sc. Fasten off.
